My good party have almost always a dedicated mass long term spellcaster and a bard who specialise in short term party buff. See invisibility communal, Protection from arrow communal can be good long term buff. Alot of Aoe spell are fire so you can safely throw fireball or breath with those spell on. Monster use alot fire so I often go for fire and you can always cast another energy type if you encounter them. The thing for spell like resist energy or protection from alignement will only let you choose one kind. That can be optimal buff and you may need lot of second caster like Cleric and a Paladin so it depend mostly of the group I use.Īll the communal spell and all the spell who have over 10 minute length are to be consider.

I use longer buff when enter a new dungeon or area with extend metamagic. I often use bless, prayer and rage on top of those. The buff you list are mostly for just one or two encounter.
